Week 8, Thing #20

I loved the Travel ID. Geography is something I love and so I wasted a lot of time learning not only what country a city or famous place is, but where in that country it would be. I could see this and other sites like this would be helpful to students as it puts geography in a fun context.

Week 8, Thing #18

I found this through the creative commons search. I think that I posted it correctly. I had trouble figuring out how to show the creative commons sign on my blog. I found that there was not a lot of choice when I looked at presentations that I could post.

Week 7, Thing #17

In my opinion, podcasts would be a great way in having students involved in their learning, if they were tasked with making their own. They could learn lots of important skills while having ownership in producing their own podcasts.

I am not sure that I would be a fan of using podcasts that students listen to in my classroom. The drawback to simply listen to podcasts is that it is purely auditory.

I liked using the RSS again. It has been a while and was good to refresh on how to use that tool.

Week 7, Thing #16

There are so many opportunities to find great videos at youtube and teachertube. In the short time I spent looking through youtube, I found this great song about dividing fractions. I think one of the down falls of youtube is all the videos that you have to sort through to find worthwhile videos. Another down fall would be that students cannot access youtube from school. Everything would have to be teacher found.

Week 6, Thing #15

I am planning to use movie maker in my lesson plan with my students on a weather unit. I plan to accomplish this in January. I will post and example at that time.

Week 6, Thing #14

Voice Thread is a pretty cool site. I made a presentation for a couple of friends trying to convince them to take a trip with me. I had fun finding images and putting together a story. I think student would enjoy putting together presentations on voice thread. Also, students can put their own voice on the presentation and be able to heard how they sound when presenting. I think this would be a great self evaluation tool. Another aspect that I think would be beneficial for students is that I as the teacher could give them feedback on specific parts of their presentation at that part.

Week 5, Thing #13

GoogleDoc would be a fun application to use with students. I like how every student can be working on a project at their own computer at the same time. This will force every student to physically participate in a project. I think it is very important that I as the teacher can see what every student has edited. The students should also be aware that I can that capability. The only problem I see is getting the computer space at school and students complaining that their internet was not working at home.
