Week 5, Thing #12

I think that wikis are one of the tools I have learned that I can see myself using with my students. I like the idea of having a team wiki that only I or my co-teacher has control to change. This could be a great resource for my students as well as their parents. If my co-teacher or myself wanted the students to work on a group project on the computer, then we could add links to student wikis on our team wiki page.

Week 4, Thing #11

Wordle of Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken

I started out my word cloud quest in TagCrowd. It was neat to see how many times a word was used, but I was not too impressed. Wordle hooked me right away. I loved changing the font and the colors and making the word cloud my own. I like the example of using speeches to see what words are used repeatedly, but I am having a hard time coming up with a way to use word clouds in Math to make it useful for the content.

Week 4, Thing #10

I can see how Del.icio.us could potentially be a wonderful site to put together websites that students will need for research projects. With Del.icio.us students could also access the same sites at home. Also, I could see this being great for parents that want to check out the sites that their children are accessing. If students are working on a wiki for their project, they could have a link to their wiki on this site as well. It could be a one stop shop.

Week 3, Thing #8

I posted a comment on this blog:

http://math-blog.com/

I an entry about an interview with an author on a book about numbers. I wanted to let them know that I found the entry useful and how it made me interested in buying the book for myself.

Week 3, Thing #8

I created a twitter account a couple of weeks ago. I followed several people. I found some friends, some educators and some institutions. Honestly, today is my first time to log into my account since I set it up. I feel like this could be useful if I sat at my computer at work. My problem is that I cannot find time to check it on a consistent basis.

Week 3, Thing #7

I have love and hate feelings about the RRS feeds. It would be nice to not to have to check all my email sites to see if they have updated every day...especially if they are the types of sites that do not update very often. On the flip side, I feel like this could be overwhelming for me to see so much new information every time I log into Google Reader.

My favorite mashup by far (that I used) was the map maker. There are many different maps to use where you could highlight the places you have been. I could see students using this in a social studies class to

Week 2, Thing 4

I put myself into this picture. Driving down the road by myself as the sun setting. I feel a calm that I really do not feel in my everyday life.

Figuring out how to use flickr was not the hard part of this post for me. I found several pictures that I wanted to use. I had trouble finding a picture that had creative commons and then I had trouble getting that creative commons into my blog. I think I could do it much faster next time.
